When We Are Closed

Outside surgery hours, emergency medical services are the responsibility of NHS North Somerset.

Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.

Call 999 in an emergency. Chest pains and / or shortness of breath constitute an emergency.

On Mondays and Fridays, we have appointments available from 7.30am. These early morning appointments are for routine issues but of course are most useful for those patients who work and need an appointment before they commute to their workplace.

Similarly, we have some late evening appointments available on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and whilst they are open to all, they are most useful for those who find appointments during the day difficult. This may include mothers with young children who need to wait until their partners are home to take care of the children, those who work or carers who find it diffficut to find time for themselves.

Every day we have an Emergency Doctor. This GP does not hold a normal surgery but has appointments available for those who need to see a doctor with an urgent problem which simply cannot wait another day.

Sometimes it is difficult to get a quick appointment with the GP of your choosing, but if your medical condition is genuinely urgent, you will always be offered an appointment with the emergency doctor on the day you call.

In the first instance, however, you may wish to talk to one of our Nurse Clinicians to see if they can help. They are fully qualified to assess your condition and are able to prescribe antibiotics if required. They will also arrange for you to see the emergency doctor if they are unable to resolve your problem. Therefore, if you are concerned that you may have a throat/chest/ear infection, have a rash that is worrying you or another such minor ailment/injury, please ask for a telephone call from the Nurse Clinician first and they will be able to advise.
